Revanth Reddy reverses stance on free power in Telangana

Revanth backtracks on free power statement!

The president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, A Revanth Reddy, has faced backlash for his comments on providing 24X7 free power supply to the agriculture sector. His statement has led to protests by Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders and members across the state.

To make matters worse, even his own party leaders have criticized him for unnecessary controversy, stating that farmers do not require more than eight hours of power supply. They believe that three hours of power supply is sufficient for 95 percent of farmers.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, a prominent Congress leader and Member of Parliament, who is known for opposing Revanth Reddy, stated that the PCC chief does not have the authority to make such policy statements. He clarified that providing free power supply to farmers is the policy of the Congress party.

Komatireddy agreed with Revanth Reddy on the fact that the KCR government is not providing 24X7 power to agriculture. He challenged the BRS government to prove its claim.

He boldly declared, “Even if it is proven that farmers are receiving 10 hours of power supply, I will resign from my MP seat.”

Under increasing pressure, Revanth Reddy retracted his statement quickly. He stated that the Congress party remains committed to its policy of providing round-the-clock power supply to farmers free of cost.

He also emphasized that the BRS leaders’ attempts to mislead people by claiming that Congress will only provide three hours of power to agriculture will not be believed.

All India Congress Committee in-charge of Telangana, Manikrao Thakre, assured that if his party is elected to power, it will implement round-the-clock power supply to agriculture as stated in their farmers’ declaration.
