The much-anticipated movie “Nene Naa,” directed by Caarthick Raju and starring Regina Cassandra, is all set to hit the screens on August 25, 2023. The intriguing teaser and captivating trailer of the film have already piqued the curiosity of audiences.

Story:

Divya (Regina Cassandra) is a talented archaeologist. Under suspicious circumstances, a murder happens in a deep forest. To crack the case, the cops approach Divya for help. A shocking truth is uncovered during the investigation, followed by a series of murders. Who is the killer? What’s the main motive behind these brutal murders? Is Regina the culprit or someone else, forms crucial crux.

On-screen performances:

Regina Cassandra shines in the dual roles, particularly as Divya. Her impressive performance brings depth to the role and keeps the audience attached the proceedings.

As usual, Vennela Kishore’s comedic prowess works at parts. His screenpresence, especially in the first half, adds an enjoyable ride to the movie. The humorous interactions between him and Regina evoke genuine laughs.

Jayaprakash’s double-role performance is fine. He manages to do justice to both characters, contributing to the proceedings. Thagabothu Ramesh’s comedy in the initial part of the movie is fine.

Off-screen talents:

Caarthick Raju’s efforts as a writer and director fall short throughout the narrative. The regular template storyline and weak backstory dilutes the potential of the movie.

The second half is a bit better compared to the aimless narration in the first half. The screenplay could have considerably improved the overall experience.

Sam CS’s musical is dull and fails to elevate the key aspects in the movie.Gokul Benoy’s cinematography, although clean, lacks the necessary impact factor, particularly in the first half.

Sabu Joseph’s editing is fine but could have been even better to make things look more engaging. The makeup team’s failed to capture a regal look for Regina . The production values are okay.

What’s hot?

  • Regina Cassandra
  • A couple of Vennela Kishore comic episodes

What’s not?

  • Not proper storyline
  • Proceedings lacks depth
  • Not so effective thrills

Verdict:

In an overview, Nene Naa struggles with demerits like silly and outdated narration. Though Regina Cassandra’s performance is okay, it is not enough to balance the movie in a positive manner. Adding to it, the film suffers from defects such as lack of proper presentation and gripping scene order hence making the movie a disappointing watch during this weekend.
