Officers of the Earnings Tax division and the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday performed joint searches on the workplaces and residence of householders of granite companies together with Telangana minister Gangula Kamalakar.

The simultaneous searches have been on at about 20 areas in Hyderabad and Karimnagar on the residence and different premises of the civil provides and backward courses welfare minister and different granite businessmen.

Groups of IT and ED officers performed simultaneous searches. They have been reportedly checking the information and transactions on the workplaces of granite industries at Panjagutta, Hyderguda, Somajiguda and different areas in Hyderabad.

The searches have been carried out on the minister’s home in Karimnagar city and in addition on the workplaces of granite industries owned by his kin in Mankammatota and Kaman areas.

The minister or his relations weren’t current through the searches.

The IT and ED officers are believed to have taken the motion following allegations of tax evasion and FEMA violations towards granite businessmen.

The ED had earlier issued notices to eight industries.

The central companies are believed to be checking the information pertaining to exports and alleged unlawful excavation of granite quarries.
