New Delhi, Jan 26 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh’s tableau that rolled down the Kartavya Path as a part of the Republic Day celebrations right here on Thursday, had a bullock cart within the entrance showcasing the competition of Prabhala Theertham which is well known throughout Makar Sankranti, the principle theme of the float.
    With conventional dancers on each side, the tableau highlighted 450-year-old custom and tradition adopted by residents of all villages within the Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh throughout Prabhala Theertham.
    The competition entails taking out idols constructed of bamboo frames and adorned with vibrant garments, papers, feathers and Kathirkula (rice sheaves woven collectively signifying prosperity). The tableau showcased how these adorned bamboo arches with Lord Shiva’s idols on them are taken round in an enormous procession from all villages.
