Telangana Emerges As Best Performer

The state of Telangana emerged as the best performer in promoting Inclusive And Sustainable Economic Growth and decent work for all on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index 2019, as per United Nations Development Programme India and Niti Aayog statistics.

Telangana Minister KTR is delighted with this news and said the same in his tweet reply to UNDP India statistics tweet.

There are 17 SD goals and Telangana has shown a drastic improvement in many of them in just one year. In Decent Work and Economic Growth, Telangana has improved from 75 percent in 2018 to 82 percent in 2019. The biggest of them all is the SDG of Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, which has a terrific improvement from just 16 percent to 61 percent.

The goals that took a big leap towards improvement are Clean Water and Sanitation, that has moved from 55 percent in 2018 to 84 percent in 2019, Affordable and Clean Energy has moved from 63 percent in 2018 to 93 percent in 2019. Also in Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, the percentage has moved from 66 to 77 in one year. Only the goal for No poverty remains the same with 52 percent on both the years.

Although the state performed the best with growth in all these goals, there were some downtrends in goals like Quality Education with 66 percent in 2018 to 64 percent in 2019, Good Health and Well-being 73 percent to 66 percent, Zero Hunger fell from 53 percent to 36 percent, Reduced Inequalities slid from 100 percent to 96 percent. The SDG with Gender Equality has performed poorly with fall from 43 percent to 26 percent.
