Silambarasan (STR) is one of the fortunate Kollywood actors of this generation to have a filmy background. His father T Rajender is an established director and actor who was highly popular in 1980's and 90's. He's made strong ripples during the early stages of career with films like Alai, Kuththu, Manmadha, Vallabha, Vinnathaandi Varuvaayaa and more. But, STR hasn't tasted even a single big success in last few months. On top of it, the actor was verbally attacked by some noted directors for reporting late to shoots and in a way causing interruption to planned schedules. Filmmakers like Gautam Vasudev Menon, Pandiraj, Adhik Ravichandran and others have publicly criticized STR in this regard.

Responding to these charges, STR has issued a statement which seems sensational and shocking. The star actor said 'When I did my first film with my dad' I came for shooting only at 10. It's not because I don't care, or I take it for granted, I have always lived my life like this. I was pampered, and I lived a very comfortable life. I can't be like a robot which is why it's very tough for me.

Without my parent's money, I am happy I could establish myself.  Openly itself I can tell, I have 1000 crores for myself. So, I can live a life extremely happy, people don't understand that. But, I love cinema, and this is all I know. I don't have the intention to be selfish and if my actions have hurt others, I will definitely change myself and I am working on it"

Some of his fans may have enjoyed how STR tried to defend the director's attack with that statement, but it hadn't gone well with many of the people on social media. No actor would dare to reveal the wealth they hold, but with Simbu announcing it, what is he playing to the gallery? either telling public how hard he's working for his passion (cinema) or how wealthy he is!

STR is now working with Mani Ratnam for an action thriller which also has Aravind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi and Arun Vijay.
