Popular Tamil actress Sangeetha Balan, who started her career in films and subsequently settled with TV shows, was arrested for allegedly running a prostitution racket in Chennai. Sangeetha along with her 'business' partner Satish were arrested by Chennai police for running the sex racket at a private resort. Cops said to have rescued several woman from various states, including from Telugu states, and sent them to a rehabilitation centre.

According to cops, Sangeetha and Satish have trapped women luring them with promising roles in films and TV shows.

Sangeetha made her acting debut in Kollywood with 'Karuppu Roja' in 1996. She is also popular on TV for her roles in shows such as, 'Vani Rani', 'Chellamay Aval', and 'Valli'.

Cops are further probing the matter and is verifying who else are behind the racket.
