To win a 13th French Open title and pull level with Federer for the first time in his career, Rafael Nadal crushed Serbia's world number one Novak Djokovic 6-0 6-2 7-5. Federer, who already held four Grand Slam titles when Nadal won his maiden French Open title in 2005, said on Twitter, "I have always had the utmost respect for my friend Rafa as a person and as a champion."

"As my biggest competitor for several years, I think we've been encouraging each other to become better players. So it's a great pleasure for me to congratulate him on his 20th victory in the Grand Slam." Nadal, 34, lost just two matches at the French Open on Sunday, racking up his 100th win. "I hope 20 is just another step for both of us on the continuing journey, "the Swiss said." "Well done Rafa, you deserve it." With 17 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic is third on the list.
