BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh Surendra Singh stirred a political storm by demanding the government to rename the world's most popular tourism spot Taj Mahal as Ram Mahal or Krishna Mahal. He also insisted to change the names of roads, monuments and other historical structures built by Muslims in the country.

Singh made such controversial comments earlier also. The MLA also suggested to rename Taj Mahal as 'Rashtrabhakt Mahal' or Shivaji Mahal. He even recommended to rename one of the historical structures as former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

Singh recently made the controversial comment calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as 'Ramavatar' and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as 'Shurpanaka'. His statements invited a wrath from all opposition parties across the country.
