India is going through a horrific and frightening situation with the Coronavirus spreading its deadly wings across the nation. The scarcity of medical facilities in treating the patients is resulting in an extra burden on the nation.

The severely hit states in the country with the Corona outbreak are finding it difficult in treating the patients with the scarcity of oxygen, one of the key facilities in treating the Corona patients.

As a bid to counter the oxygen shortage and supply oxygen for states in huge quantity, the Union Government has decided to supply 6177 metric tonnes of oxygen to the state that are severely hit by the pandemic.

Citing that in some instances oxygen is being given to patients even if there is no need and advised that patients should use the oxygen as much as they need, Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal said

"The patient should use as much oxygen as they need. In many places there is news that oxygen is being given even when it is not needed, " the Minister's tweet reads.

The respective Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and national capital Delhi, Uddhav Thackeray, and Arvind Kejriwal have requested the Centre to look into the shortage of oxygen supply in the states.

The Oxygen Express Trains will run across the country to meet the supply of oxygen. The Trains will start from the financial capital Mumbai on April 19, while the liquid medical oxygen (LMO) tankers will be loaded at the Vizag, Rourkela, Jamshedpur, and Bokaro stations.
