OTT Platform In India Receive Major Blow, Deets Inside..

The content that is streamed on the country's digital platforms has not been restricted. Several players relied on violent, vulgar material that could not be monitored, and criticism was received. The Indian government stood calm on this, although there were objections raised. Strict orders have been released by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to control digital content. The notification, which was officially declared today, was signed by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. The Indian Press Council takes control of the print media and films are taken over by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Digital content will be governed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, along with web portals and other online content. Prakash Javadekar's Union Ministry will track the content that is released on digital platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar and others. A PIL was filed last month in the Supreme Court, after which notices were given by the apex court to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting along with the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). All the material published on digital channels, including the country's television industry, will go through a censorship process. There are more specifics to be released.
