In new footage from the hit Netflix show, the second half of Lucifer season five was teased. The series, which became the most-watched streaming show in the US over the summer, is expected to return for the rest of season five, before wrapping up with a sixth and final season. Lucifer and Amenadiel faced-off against Maze and Michael as time was frozen as things were left in the midseason finale of Spoiler Warning. God finally showed up, however, and said that he did not like watching his kids fight. In a fan tribute to the character Chloe Decker, who sees glass fall from the ceiling in the aftermath of the fight, Lucifer has now provided fans a brief bit of new video. Then Decker asks, "Did you see Lucifer? ” 

After stopping in March because of the coronavirus pandemic, work on the season five finale resumed back in September. Dan Espinoza actor Kevin Alejandro announced earlier this year after the sudden commission of the sixth season that certain plot points had to be rewritten as a consequence in the season five finale. We all went into it and started the entire journey, until the episode before the last one, assuming that this was the final of our series. He told Metro that this [season five] was the show's finale. "You can tell, I suppose… through the scripts and the episodes that they didn't hold back anything they just moved forward. Before Netflix changed their minds, everybody was under the impression,” continued Alejandro. And it kind of threw all of us for a loop! ” 

"Obviously, we're all super, super excited, just shocked," he added, " As a result, the team had to make some tweaks to the finale of season five, so that we could get the final potential season five." We wrote in NME's two-star review of season five:  Lucifer makes an unconvincing effort to be a police show, but the murder cases are the bread of the sandwich, not the bacon, so the writers do not help but make the murders almost incredibly cartoonish, using them either to provide shock value or comedic relief. "The unwavering structure of the show-Lucifer uses these cases to work through his personal problems-means that the pattern becomes easy to spot soon, and surprises are difficult to come by."
