Aswini Dutt Petition: AP High Court Sends Notice to CRDA

The AP HC held a hearing on the petition lodged against the YSRCP Government by film producer Aswini Dutt on the question of land compensation. The HC sent notices to the Departments of Revenue and Municipal Administration and the Development Authority of the Capital Region (CRDA) to file the final counters in this case. For the losses caused to him by the Government in the entire transaction, Aswini Dutt claimed Rs. 210 Cr compensation. It can be recalled that the film producer gave 39 acres of his land for the expansion project of the Gannavaram airport. The previous TDP Government gave plots in the area of Amaravati Capital City in exchange for the same. At the time of this purchase, Aswini Dutt reported that the open market cost of his Gannavaram land was around Rs. 1.54 Cr per acre. The present Government was now transferring Money out of Amaravati, which was in breach of the agreement and would have caused him a significant loss.

Today, the High Court heard the arguments and issued notices to the CRDA and the officials for revenue. The AP Government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) were identified as respondents by Aswini Dutt in the case. UV film actor Krishnam Raju also similarly gave his Gannavaram land in exchange for plots in the capital city of Amaravati. The government maintains that Amaravati is only retained as the capital city. However, the petitioners argue that Visakhapatnam was moved to Executive Capital, which is the real capital of any state.
