Dr. Sudhir Gupta, who headed the panel of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) re-evaluating the post-mortem and visceral findings of Sushant Singh Rajput, said it was a suicide case and the murder angle was totally ruled out. "The death of Sushant is a suicide case. Murder was entirely ruled out," said Dr Sudhir Gupta. The panel of AIIMS doctors re-evaluated the post-mortem and viscera reports of Sushant Singh Rajput based on the 20% viscera sample available to them. A laptop, two hard discs, a Canon camera and two cell phones were investigated by forensic agencies.
On 29 September, the AIIMS doctors sent their results to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The results of the AIIMS medical board are consistent with those of Cooper Hospital, where the autopsy of Sushant Singh Rajput was performed. In addition, the circumstantial evidence also points out that it is a suicide case, with no foul play. The Central Bureau of Investigation will continue its investigation from the perspective of a suicide, as per reports. The suicide angle abetment will also be investigated. All aspects are still open in the CBI investigation and Section 302 of the IPC, which is a murder charge, will be applied if any evidence comes to light proving otherwise. Nevertheless, the CBI has been investigating the case for 57 days and nothing has occurred so far. It is now up to the investigating department to carry the case to its logical conclusion with the forensic reports in order.
In the meantime, the family lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput, Vikas Singh, had previously stated that the cause of the actor's death was "200% strangulation," according to an AIIMS doctor. Vikas Singh had said," Frustrated with the delay in CBI's decision to transform abetment to suicide to SSR [Sushant Singh Rajput] assassination. Long ago, the doctor who is part of the AIIMS team told me that the images submitted by me showed 200 percent that it is death by strangulation and not suicide." Dr. Sudhir Gupta found these statements "incorrect" and said," The investigation is still going on in response to Vikas Singh. What he says is not true. We can't just conclude on murder or suicide based on ligation marks and crime scene alone. You need further research that is still going on and not concluded."
On June 14, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra home. It was named a suicide case by the Mumbai Police and on the same day they filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR), following which they started investigating the case. The actor's post-mortem report also reported asphyxia due to hanging as the cause of death.
