Heavy rains lash Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh- The New Indian Specific

NELLORE/VIJAYAWADA: Heavy rains lashed elements of the Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, and Annamayya districts since 8.30 am on Tuesday below the affect of the North East Monsoon and cyclonic circulation over the Southwest Bay of Bengal.

In Nellore district, rains lashed the town since Tuesday morning. Railway under-bridges at Atmakur bus stand, Ramalingapuram and Magunta structure have been inundated with floodwater, inflicting inconvenience to the commuters.

District Collector KVN Chakradhar Babu stated groups have been deployed on the sector in coastal mandals after an alert from the climate division was obtained. He directed officers to step up vigil within the low-lying areas and evacuate folks to safer locations, if mandatory. Chakradhar Babu instructed the officers to alert fishermen within the sea to return to the coast because the climate circumstances should not beneficial.

Nellore Municipal Company Commissioner D Haritha stated officers are taking measures to pump out water from the roads, railway below bridges and different low-lying areas with high-power motors. She urged folks not take shelter below timber through the rains.
