Four Indian-Americans Arrested In US For H1B Visa Fraud

Once again the H1B visa was exploited by Indian-Americans and accordingly they were detained by the US. Four executives of two IT staffing companies indulged in visa fraud, said a US attorney and they are identified as 39 year old Vijay Mane, Venkataramana Mannam(47) and Fernando Silva (53) from New Jersey while Sateesh Vemuri (52) from California.

As we know H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows to employ foreigners to live and work temporarily in the US companies. Vijay, Venkataramana and Sateesh operated two staffing companies located in Middlesex County, New Jersey.

Sateesh had also one more hand in another staffing company along with Fernando Silva. They used these companies to recruit foreign nationals and sponsor them for H-1B visas. The federal prosecutor alleged that they produced fake documents that the beneficiaries had already secured positions in the companies whereas the fact there are no such positions.

All the four of them were later released on USD 250,000 bond and are likely to face a penalty of five years in prison and another USD 250,000 fine, if proved guilty.
