Based on a complaint recived, the Chennai Police arrested a formal Minister on the grounds of allegedly raping a Malaysian nation and forcing her to abort. The arrest took place in Bengaluru.

Going into details, a woman had moved the women's police station in Adyar claiming that she was in a relationship with former AIADMK Minister M Manikandan.

In the complaint, the woman maintained that, she was reported got impregnated by the former Minister and he forced her to abort.Manikandan promised her to get married and lured her into the relationship, she said.

Based on the complaint, the former IT Minister was booked under sections of rape, cheating and causing miscarriage. Later, he moved the Madras High Court to get an anticipatory bail.

In the petition, he filed to seek a bail, Manikandan accused the woman of producing false evidence.However, the court didn't grant him the bail.

The former IT Minister went absconding after the High Court refused to grant him bail. A special team, which has been on a lookout for the former Minister has nabbed him in Bengaluru.
