Critic’s Take On RRR

After India's biggest blockbuster Baahubali : The Conclusion, the expectations on SS Rajamouli's next RRR – Roudhram Ranam Rudhiram have skyrocketed. With Tollywood's two biggest stars – NTR and Ram Charan – joined as the protagonists, the expectations bar has raised further.

Right from the project announcement to the details of cast and the title announcement, the film managed to garner attention of all. Naturally, there was a lot of buzz and hype on the first motion poster. However, frankly speaking, the motion poster was not as expected. The motion poster was confined to visual effects and it has nothing much to offer to fans.

Barring the high-end VFX, RRR motion poster has nothing much to offer. The one-minute-odd motion poster could have been better. It simply offered the glimpses of Komaram Bheem (NTR) and Alluri Seetharama Raju (Ram Charan) where the duo is seen running and joining of their hands indicate that the duo would join their forces and fight together for a greater cause.

Set against the period of 1920, RRR is a historical period drama laced with fantasy. MM Keeravani's thumping music and Srinivas Mohan's VFX are the highlights of the motion poster.

Looks like, Rajamouli has come up with simple motion poster in order to tone down the mammoth expectations on the film that are posing major challenge to him. Also, Jakkanna doesn't want to reveal much about the film at this juncture and hence he wanted to keep crucial details about the story up his sleeve and this is why he probably doesn't want to show more and kept everything under the wraps.

Let's wait and watch, what is in store for RRR. As Rajamouli has announced that RRR is slated for Jan 8, 2021 release and there is no change in the release date – despite the delay due to ongoing Corona outbreak, it's a welcome development.
