VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 29 conferences had been held with the State governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to resolve disputes. The 2 States should settle bilateral points in a spirit of mutual cooperation, Union Minister of State for House Affairs Nityanand Rai stated, in reply to a question raised by BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

He stated the Centre acts as a facilitator for amicable settlement of the disputes between the 2 States in a spirit of mutual lodging and understanding. Numerous provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 have been carried out and the remaining provisions are at varied levels of implementation. Among the provisions referring to infrastructure initiatives and academic establishments have lengthy gestation interval for which a time interval of 10 years has been prescribed within the Act, he defined.

Rao thanked the Centre for holding 29 conferences to resolve pending points between AP and Telangana and criticised the 2 State governments for not holding a single bilateral assembly to resolve pending points. “The ruling YSRC and TRS have pleasant political relations, however don’t use them for resolving pending points between the 2 States,” he noticed.
