CBI Expresses Grief Over Untimely Demise Of Former Director Ranjit Sinha

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a statement expressed its condolences over the demise of former director Ranjit Sinha, who passed away on Friday morning.

The agency said, “CBI extends its deepest condolence & sympathy to the bereaved family and prays to the almighty to give the family the strength and fortitude to bear their loss at this time of great sorrow.”

Ranjit Sinha, who had tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, passed away on Friday in Delhi.

Praveen Sinha, acting chief of CBI said "Our heartfelt condolences are with the bereaved family in this hour of intense grief. May his soul rest in peace."

Ranjit Sinha was an IPS officer of the 1974 batch (Bihar cadre). He took over as the Director of CBI on December 3, 2012 and retired on December 2, 2014.

Prior to joining as Director, CBI, Sinha was Director General of ITBP. He had earlier held several important positions in CBI including the post of Joint Director and DIG.

Ranjit Sinha was the 26th Director of CBI after its formation in 1963.
