Budding Actor Akshat Utkarsh Dies By Suicide In Mumbai Flat, Family Suspects Murder

A 26-year-old TV actor from Bihar, Akshat Utkarsh, was found dead on Sunday night in his rented apartment in the Andheri area of Mumbai. Akshat died by suicide, according to Amboli police officials, and was depressed due to lack of work. However, his family rejected the narrative of depression, alleging that the young actor was murdered. His body was taken by his family on Tuesday to his native Muzaffarpur. They've got police incompetence suspected.

Police officers said that when the incident occurred, Akshat used to stay with one of his female friends in a village near Andheri, RTO. Akshat was behaving as usual on Sunday evening, according to his roommate's statement, and they chatted about different things as usual, and then had dinner together before going to sleep. "She found Akshat dead in his room at around 11.30 pm when she woke up to use the washroom, after which she immediately called the police," an officer from the Amboli police station said. He was rushed to a private hospital by a team of police officers, where he was declared dead before arrival. The officer added that the body was moved to Cooper hospital for an autopsy examination.

"We have reported an Accidental Death Record (ADR) and are investigating the matter," said Someshwar Kanthe, senior police inspector at Amboli police station. No foul play is confirmed by the preliminary enquiry and autopsy report. The incident occurred anywhere between 10 pm and 11:30 pm on Sunday night. Police officials who asked his friends that Akshat was in despair because of the lockdown and because he had to borrow money from his family and friends, because there was no work. His maternal uncle, Ranjit Singh, told that Akshat had been murdered. He said that the Mumbai Police did not take the matter seriously and in the case did not even lodge an FIR. He also denied Akshat's depression, saying that the actor was searching for work and had found a movie as well.
