‘Brochevarevarura’ Goes To Bollywood: Ajay Devgn Bags The Remake Rights Of The Telugu Crime Comedy

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has bankrolled a handful of films as a producer and directed 'U Me Aur Hum' (2008),' Shivaay' (2016) and the on-going 'Mayday' besides enjoying a superstar status from the last three decades. The 51-year-old has brought the Hindi remake rights of Telugu crime comedy 'Brochevarevarura' for an undisclosed sum, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, and plans to bankroll it with Karan Deol and Abhay Deol as the leaders. While the news on his social management has already been confirmed by trade analyst Ramesh Bala, an official confirmation is awaited from Ajay & Co. The report added that Deven Munjal, who has previously worked on films such as Chalte Chalte and Om Shanti Om as a production manager, will direct the Hindi remake tentatively titled Velley. “Velley is the official adaptation of Brochevarevarura, a Telugu crime comedy. Ajay liked the idea and purchased the rights for it immediately, so he could take it to a pan-India audience. The script is being written at the moment,” the source revealed to MM.

In leading roles, "Brochevarevarura," starring Sree Vishnu, Nivetha Thomas, Nivetha Pethuraj, Satyadev, Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi, proved that you don't need over-the-top plots and big budgets to pull off a whacky, crazy comedy that makes you laugh and keeps you hooked right until the end. Both the Nivethas slipped into their characters effortlessly, and director Vivek Athreya was applauded for leading a gripping storey with just a handful of characters and a simple plot filled with suspense. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Dussehra, Devgn's upcoming film Maidaan will hit theatres on October 15, 2021. He is currently directing Mayday with Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh, starring himself.
