At the time when Telugu Desham Party (TDP) leaders are taking swipe at Indian PM Narendra Modi for betraying the people of Andhra by going back on special category status that was promised to bifurcated state during election campaign in 2014, the state BJP president has made a shocking-better to be called as atrocious-comment.

The newly appointed Andhra Pradesh state president of Bharatiya Janata Party Kanna Lakshminarayana has today made a very interesting and shocking statement which could certainly call for further backlash from Telugu Desham leaders.

Kanna on Saturday said "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has never promised to grant special category status to Andhra in the presence of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy at Tirumala." He also alleged that media has been continuously misinterpreting PM Narendra Modi's promise to AP during his election campaign. 

Countering the demand of state leaders to implement all the promises made in the AP Reorganization Act-2014, the former Congress leader said "AP Reorganization bill only mandates to examine the possibility of establishment of Railway Zone in Vishakapatnam, Steel plant in Kadapa and Dugarajapatnam port."
