Allocation of extra slots for civilian flights want of the hour at Visakhapatnam airport in Andhra Pradesh, say stakeholders

The allocation of two to a few slots for the civilian flights on the Visakhapatnam Worldwide Airport throughout peak hours even after development of the N-5 taxi monitor is drawing flak from the air customers and folks’s representatives.

A rise in slots for industrial operation of flights is required to draw airline operators, each home and worldwide, to function to and from Visakhapatnam.

The principle hurdle in rising the slots is that the airport is a Customs airport with a civil enclave operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Naval Air Station, INS Dega, operated by the Indian Navy. MP’s plea to Defence Minister

There’s a want to extend the variety of slots for civilian flights on the airport to facilitate introduction of extra flights, each home and worldwide, from Visakhapatnam, the one main metropolis in Andhra Pradesh, which ranks ninth within the nation when it comes to GDP, says Member of Parliament M.V.V. Satyanarayana.

In a letter to Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh on Wednesday, Mr. Satyanarayana stated the presence of a serious port, rail connectivity, main industries referring to energy, oil, textile, pharma and IT, made Visakhapatnam a monetary hub.

The airport offers connectivity to varied cities in India and some worldwide locations.

Mr. Satyanarayana stated that in peak hours, solely two to a few slots had been being allotted for civilian flight actions even after the development of N-5 taxi monitor, which was stopping new airways from launching operations to and from Visakhapatnam.

No less than six extra slots must be given for civilian flights, he stated, and sought early completion of the parallel taxi monitor sanctioned to the Navy 4 years in the past.
