Acer India Brand Ambassador Sonu Sood Now Bags Special Humanitarian Award From ‘UNDP’

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who supported thousands of people during the Covid-19 pandemic, was named by Taiwanese electronics major Acer as brand ambassador in India. The actor will be seen promoting the creative product range of the brand across media outlets for the campaign to speak about the dedication of Acer to improving the lives of people through technology. "Our partnership with Sonu Sood will further strengthen this bond and give our customers a greater sense of confidence, power, and reliability objective," Harish Kohli, Acer India's President and Managing Director, said in a statement.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, actor Sonu Sood has been awarded the prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)  for selflessly extending a helping hand and sending home lakhs of refugees, helping thousands of stranded students across geographies abroad, providing free education and medical facilities to young children and creating free employment opportunities for the poor.

The award was given on Monday evening at a virtual ceremony. Sonu Sood brings together the likes of Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Leonardo Di Caprio, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, Nicole Kidman, and Priyanka Chopra, who have been recognised by various UN bodies in the same way.

"This is a rare privilege. Recognition from the UN is very special. I have done, in my own humble way, for my fellow countrymen, what little I have done, without any expectations. However, it feels nice to be recognised and awarded. I completely endorse the UNDP in its efforts to reach the SDGs by 2030. The adoption of these objectives would greatly benefit Planet Earth and humanity," said Sonu Sood, upon winning the prestigious award.
